A manticore flings iron spikes from its tail. Irritable and mean, it attacks without provocation and does not negotiate with prey. Manticores often make their lairs in caves or on sheltered ledges high on rocky peaks. They hunt by picking a high spot that offers a good view and watching for something worth eating.
This creature is a monster in every sense of the word. It has the head of a vaguely humanoid beast, the body of a lion, and the wings of a dragon. The creature’s back is set with curved barbs, and its long tail ends in a cluster of deadly spikes.
